Well here we are towards the end of the first week of June. There are quite a few things to be thankful for at the moment:
- The rain has come, finally, for which we are very grateful. Long may it fall.
- The new gardener is working out well.
- My studio is very very nearly finished (just need the splashback behind the sink), and two chairs that are being made to order.
- After seven years of deliberation and research we have bought a new sound system. The speakers arrived two weeks ago, and we’ve been ‘wearing’ them in (100 hours of playing). Yesterday the amp and cd player turned up, after much shipping debacle, and we were fortunate enough to have a sound engineer staying at our place last night who gave us top tips on setting the whole system up. Amazing timing!
- After more thought to the legal side of things, and further discussion with the lawyer, I’ve realised it would be best if the surrogate got pregnant first (If I already have a live child when I go to request a parenting order, it won’t be granted), so M is starting her first IUI later this month.
- Turns out Mike has been paying WAY too much in medical insurance (coverage for him stuffing up in his medical judgement and being sued by a patient) for maybe five years, and they just refunded us 12 thousand bucks. It’s like winning lotto, only not quite as good because it’s probably not quite as much as we actually overpaid, and we end up paying tax on it twice, but c’est la vie, it’s still cash and we can use it right now.
- The housework and gardening feel pretty up to date and I can slow down a bit- phew.
- I don’t have to trek to Bunbury for follicle scans this cycle (or subsequent cycles) which will save me three days of drudgery.
- My reflexologist and chiropractor have both returned after a month’s absence. Yay!
- I’m back at the gym after a two week hiatus with the second half of last cycle that made me feel dreadful- exhausted, dizzy, nauseated, bloated, hellishly constipated etc- and unable to do anything much.
- Next weekend we have been invited to a special truffle dinner, by our friend who runs the Taste of Balingup. Wooohoooo! It’s also the first weekend we’ll have had to ourselves since 17th March. I can’t wait.
- Last week we socialised FAR too much. [This is not particularly a good thing, especially for a raging introvert like myself]. Quite a lot with the aikido crew who came to Bridgetown for the annual winter school (it runs from Friday through to the following Monday over the June long weekend. Mike trained, I didn’t) hanging out with them Fri, Sun and Monday nights. On Saturday night we attended a friend’s 40th birthday party. Tuesday night off, last night visitors, and this evening another friend coming to stay until Monday. But the good thing is that right now I have several hours to myself and I am loving it. Just finished the jigsaw MIL gave me for my birthday. It has been remarkably soothing and I’m thinking of buying another one.
- Have been discussing introversion in my therapy lately and bought a couple of books on the subject. Will discuss more later.
I did plan to add some pics of the studio but I’ve run out of time and have to get to my pilates class. Next time….
